NQ Dry Tropics established a Communtiy Engagement Team to work
throughout the region to engage with community NRM organisations
and groups and the broader community to facilitate increased
participation in NRM activities and decision making processes.
Reef Guardian Schools Partnership
NQ Dry Tropics and the Great Barrier Reef Marine park Authority
formed a partnership to deliver the Reef Guardian Schools Program
in the Burdekin Dry Tropics Region.
Cultural Heritage Mapping Survey - Gudjal Traditional
Owners
Cultural and environmental sites mappin and assesssment of
cultural and natural values at key locations within White Mountatin
and Dalrymple National Parks and the Great basalt Wall.
Juru Women's Program
Cultural and natural resource information collected and collated
from Senior Juru women Elders and developed into a womens cultural
program that focuses on the transfer of traditional knowledge,
protocols and values.
Gudjuda Cultural Education Awareness Program
Gudjuda Traditional Owner Organisation representing four TO
grops of the region developed a cultural education awareness
program to be delivered through schools.
The Caring
for Country Plan addresses the social, economic, cultural and
institutional issues integral to natural resource management in the
Traditional Owner context.
Oral History and visual research methodologies as participatory
tools to understand and integrate local and technical knowledge for
natural resource management in the Desert Uplands
Increasing community awareness and understanding of dryland
salinity, identifying and mapping priority areas at risk from
dryland salinity
Integrating Traditional Ecological/Environmental
Knowledge with other data sets for NRM application

identifying and realising Traditional Owner needs and aspirations
relating to cultural heritage and natural resource management in
the region.

implementing strategies in the TO Plan and supporting and assisting
Traditional Owners to develop Land and Sea centres.
